Project Goals - Single Sign On
A Single Sign On application is used to authenticate users and store preferences so that clinicians do not have to maintain separate ID and password for each legacy system.
The issues of data security and user authentication and authorization are addressed with the implementation of the CNEX/InfoChart. At UCLA, the legacy systems require separate login to each system, or group of subsystems, in order to access patient data. Two major issues arise from this situation. First, efficiency is lost when users must log into multiple systems to gather needed data. Second, the security of the systems is at higher risk when, in an effort to keep track of their profiles, users write down or share logins and passwords to aid in remembering. In order to address these issues, UCLA InfoShare is building a Single Sign-On (SSO) application to be integrated with CNEX/InfoChart that will allow users to access data on different systems without having to log in more than once.
