Project Goals - Tailored User Interface
User interfaces are designed based on specific roles of users.
Data from the legacy systems are aggregated in CNEX using the highly flexible XML format. There are a variety of ways in which these data are displayed to a user of the system. Each set of data are thought of as a discreet component, for example, radiological images or lab results. The components can be made available in any combination on the computer screen depending on the authorization of the user. UCLA InfoShare has been working to build user interfaces for the CNEX system that display information in a meaningful way to specific types of users.
Specifications are gathered for identified departments within UCLA Healthcare and the data components are made available through the interfaces according to the specifications. Once the CNEX architecture is in place, the design of it will enable the development of other tailored user interfaces outside of the clinical web portal user interface (InfoChart).
